How It Works

• Book Your Appointment:
  • Schedule an appointment at the appropriate Embassy, Consulate General, or Honorary Consul’s office.
• Prepare Your Documents:
  • Use our detailed checklist to gather all required documents.
• Attend Your Appointment:
  • Present yourself in person for identification, biometric data capture, and document verification.
• Processing & Delivery:
  • Your application is processed by the relevant authorities. Once approved, your new passport or ID card is sent to you by courier.
• Ongoing Support:
  • We provide continuous support and updates throughout the process.

Documents Required

• Completed Passport Application Form– Must be signed in person at the consular office.
• Valid Identification– Hungarian ID card, valid foreign passport, or Hungarian residence permit (if applicable).
• Proof of Hungarian Citizenship– One of the following:
• Valid or expired Hungarian passport (expired within the last year).
• Hungarian Citizenship Certificate.
• Certificate of Naturalization (if applicable).
• Verification from the Hungarian Citizenship Authority.
  • Birth Certificate– A Hungarian birth certificate is required for first-time applicants.
  • Hungarian Address Card– If applicable, the Hungarian “lakcímkártya” must be provided.
  • Previous Passport– If applying for renewal, the old passport must be presented.

Additional Requirements Based on Circumstances

• For Name Changes– Marriage certificate (must be registered in Hungary).
• For Minors–

• • Both parents’ identification documents.
  • Parental consent form signed by both parents in person or through an authenticated document.
• For Lost or Stolen Passports–
  • Police report (if applicable).
  • Declaration of loss at the consular office.
• For Urgent Travel Needs– Proof of emergency travel (e.g., medical emergency, urgent business travel).

• Application Processing Time

• • In Hungary: 8-20 days (expedited options available for 1, 3, or 5 days at an additional cost).
  • At Consular Offices Abroad: 20-40 days (no expedited service available).
• Collection Options
  • Passports can be collected abroad by paying the consular administration fee.
  • ID cards can be collected abroad at no additional cost.
• Online Services
  • Available only for reporting lost/stolen/destroyed passports and applying for a secondary passport.
