EEA/EU Family Visa

Documents Required

Visa Application Form

• Must be completed in English and signed by the applicant.
• For minors, the form must be signed by parents or legal guardians.

Passport Photos

• Two recent passport-sized colour photos (35 mm x 45 mm).
• Taken within the last six months.
• White or off-white background, clear quality, and full-face visibility.
• No head coverings except for religious or ethnic reasons.

Valid Passport

• Must be original with at least two blank visa pages.
• Should be valid for at least 90 days after the intended departure from Hungary.

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.
• If holding a UK Residence Permit, submit the original and a copy of both sides, valid for at least one month beyond departure from the Schengen Area.

Proof of Travel

• A confirmed round-trip ticket or proof of onward travel.
• If traveling by car, provide driving licence, car registration, and car insurance, along with return ferry tickets.

Proof of Finance (Must be dated within 30 days)

• Bank statements for the last three months, showing sufficient funds for the stay and event participation.
• If financially supported by a sponsor, provide their bank statements and a sponsorship declaration.

Proof of Occupation (Required for all applicants, must be dated within 30 days)

• For employed applicants:
  • Recent employment letter from the UK employer, stating job title, start date, salary, and approved leave
• For self-employed applicants:
  • Letter from a chartered accountant or business registration certificate confirming self-employment status
  • Most recent tax return or proof of ongoing business activity
• For student applicants:
  • Recent letter from the UK educational institution confirming enrolment, course details, and authorised leave of absence

Medical Insurance

• Schengen-valid travel insurance covering medical expenses up to EUR 30,000, including repatriation and emergency treatment.

Visa-Specific Documents (Must be dated within 30 days)

For Students (Academic Courses & Training)

• Official enrolment certificate from a Hungarian university, college, or institution.
• Student ID or confirmation of attendance from the host institution.
• Proof of accommodation arrangements or financial means to cover accommodation.
• If applicable, an internship agreement between the applicant, employer, and educational institution.

For Professional Training & Internships

• Letter of invitation from the host organization detailing the purpose and duration of the training.
• Internship agreement (if applicable) outlining responsibilities and learning objectives.
• Employer’s letter of consent (if currently employed) confirming leave approval and sponsorship (if applicable).

For Conference Attendance

• Invitation letter from the host organization in Hungary.
• Confirmation of participation issued by the event organizers.
• Proof of registration and payment receipt (if applicable).

Additional Documents for Minors (Under 18)

Birth Certificate

• A copy of the minor’s birth certificate for identification purposes.

Parental Consent

• If a minor is traveling alone or with only one parent, provide a notarised consent letter from the non-traveling parent along with a certified copy of the parent’s passport page.
• If the child has sole custody with one parent, submit court ruling documents or a death certificate of the other parent.

Important Notes

• Incomplete Applications
  • Any missing documents may result in processing delays or application rejection.
• Translation of Documents
  • Documents not in English must be officially translated before submission.
• Additional Requirements
  • The consulate reserves the right to request further documents or conduct an interview, which may impact processing time.
• Visa Validity
  • The visa cannot be issued for a period longer than the validity of the passport.

Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent colour photograph (not more than six months old) that meets the following requirements:

• Background: Taken against a light (white or off-white) background to ensure clear visibility and contrast.
• Quality & Clarity: The image must be sharp, in focus, and of high quality, with no ink marks, creases, or damage.
• Facial Features:
  • The applicant must have a neutral expression (non-smiling).
  • Eyes must be fully open and clearly visible (no reflections from glasses).
  • No sunglasses, hats, caps, or head coverings, except for religious or ethnic reasons.
• Size & Composition:
  • The photo must be 35–40mm in width.
  • The head and top of the shoulders must be visible, with the face occupying 70–80% of the photograph.
• Printing Requirements:
  • The photograph must be printed on standard photographic paper (camera print).
  • Must be attached to the Visa Application Form using glue or a paperclip (staples are not allowed).

If the photograph does not meet these requirements, the visa application will be considered incomplete, and the applicant may be required to take new photographs at the visa application centre.
