National Visa

Documents Required

Visa Application Form

• Duly completed and signed application form (Appendix 9.23).
• If the application also involves employment, Appendix 9.6 must be submitted.

Passport Photos

• One recent passport-sized colour photograph (35mm x 45mm) with a light background.

Valid Passport

• At least two blank pages and issued within the last 10 years.
• Valid for at least the period of the intended stay in Hungary.

UK Residency

• Original & copy of a valid UK Residence Permit or UK eVisa printout with a share code.

Proof of Relationship to the Sponsor in Hungary

• Birth certificate (for dependent children).
• Marriage certificate (only Hungarian-registered marriage certificates are accepted for spouses of Hungarian citizens).
• Adoption certificate (if applicable).
• Any other official document proving family relationship with a Hungarian citizen or legal resident.

Proof of Finance

• Bank statements (recent 3 months) in the applicant’s name.
• Income confirmation from the employer or tax authority.
• Notarized declaration from the sponsor confirming financial support and proof of their income.
• Any other credible financial proof ensuring self-sufficiency in Hungary.

Proof of Accommodation in Hungary

• Residential lease agreement or property ownership document.
• Employer-issued accommodation confirmation (if applicable).
• Proof of pre-booked accommodation and payment receipt.

Health Insurance

• Proof of comprehensive health insurance coverage for the stay in Hungary.

Proof of Exit from Hungary

• Confirmed return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase a return ticket.

Additional Documents for Minors

• Parental consent document confirming permission for the child to reside in Hungary.
• Consent must be provided as a notarized statement with a Hungarian or English translation.

Important Notes

• Incomplete Applications
  • Any missing documents may result in processing delays or application rejection.
• Translation of Documents
  • Documents not in English must be officially translated before submission.
• Additional Requirements
  • The consulate reserves the right to request further documents or conduct an interview, which may impact processing time.
• Visa Validity
  • The visa cannot be issued for a period longer than the validity of the passport.

Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent colour photograph (not more than six months old) that meets the following requirements:

• Background: Taken against a light (white or off-white) background to ensure clear visibility and contrast.
• Quality & Clarity: The image must be sharp, in focus, and of high quality, with no ink marks, creases, or damage.
• Facial Features:
  • The applicant must have a neutral expression (non-smiling).
  • Eyes must be fully open and clearly visible (no reflections from glasses).
  • No sunglasses, hats, caps, or head coverings, except for religious or ethnic reasons.
• Size & Composition:
  • The photo must be 35–40mm in width.
  • The head and top of the shoulders must be visible, with the face occupying 70–80% of the photograph.
• Printing Requirements:
  • The photograph must be printed on standard photographic paper (camera print).
  • Must be attached to the Visa Application Form using glue or a paperclip (staples are not allowed).

If the photograph does not meet these requirements, the visa application will be considered incomplete, and the applicant may be required to take new photographs at the visa application centre.
