Documents Required

Mandatory Requirements for All Applicants

• Visa Application Form – Duly completed and signed (Appendix 9.8 for Hungarian Card).
• Passport Photos – One recent colour passport-sized photo (35mm x 45mm), well-contrasted, head straight, mouth closed.
• Valid Passport – At least two blank pages, issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay in Hungary.
• UK Residency Proof – Original and copy of a valid UK Residence Permit or UK eVisa printout with share code.
• Proof of Funds – Recent bank statements (last 3 months), tax or income verification from employer or tax authority, or other credible financial evidence confirming the ability to sustain expenses in Hungary.
• Proof of Accommodation in Hungary – Residential lease contract, property ownership document, employer-provided accommodation certificate, or hotel reservation with payment receipt.
• Health Insurance – Proof of comprehensive health insurance coverage in Hungary.
• Proof of Exit from Hungary – Return flight ticket or proof of sufficient funds to purchase a ticket.
• For Minors – Documentary evidence of parental/legal guardian consent for the stay in Hungary, provided in a notarised or authenticated document with an English or Hungarian translation.

Hungarian Card (Employment-Based)

• Work Agreement – A prior agreement or valid work contract for a highly qualified profession.
• Education/Qualification Certificates – Documents verifying higher education or professional qualifications required for the job.
  (Not required for professional sportspersons, coaches, performers, or film producers.)
• Third-Country Employer Agreement – If employed based on an agreement between a third-country employer and a Hungarian company, the employment contract between both entities must be submitted.

Hungarian Card (Business/Ownership-Based)

• Proof of Business Ownership or Directorship – If working as an owner or executive officer in a company, cooperative, or legal entity for gainful purposes, additional documents may be required:
  • Detailed business activity statement
  • Business registration documents (enterprise contract, assignment agreement, sales contracts)
  • Tax authority clearance confirming no outstanding tax liabilities
  • Proof of employee tax and contribution payments

Important Notes

• Incomplete Applications
  • Any missing documents may result in processing delays or application rejection.
• Translation of Documents
  • Documents not in English must be officially translated before submission.
• Additional Requirements
  • The consulate reserves the right to request further documents or conduct an interview, which may impact processing time.
• Visa Validity
  • The visa cannot be issued for a period longer than the validity of the passport.

Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent colour photograph (not more than six months old) that meets the following requirements:

• Background: Taken against a light (white or off-white) background to ensure clear visibility and contrast.
• Quality & Clarity: The image must be sharp, in focus, and of high quality, with no ink marks, creases, or damage.
• Facial Features:
  • The applicant must have a neutral expression (non-smiling).
  • Eyes must be fully open and clearly visible (no reflections from glasses).
  • No sunglasses, hats, caps, or head coverings, except for religious or ethnic reasons.
• Size & Composition:
  • The photo must be 35–40mm in width.
  • The head and top of the shoulders must be visible, with the face occupying 70–80% of the photograph.
• Printing Requirements:
  • The photograph must be printed on standard photographic paper (camera print).
  • Must be attached to the Visa Application Form using glue or a paperclip (staples are not allowed).

If the photograph does not meet these requirements, the visa application will be considered incomplete, and the applicant may be required to take new photographs at the visa application centre.
